There were some lovely old trees in the grounds of Ilam Park and one in particular provided the Podlings with endless entertainment. It had grown in such a way as to completely enclose a large area beneath it, forming a fantastic den. The ground beneath the canopy was thickly carepted in coppery autumn leaves and with the late afternoon sun shining through the branches it was a picture book perfect play area for children.
