Read to me

I came downstairs from running Alexander's bath to find Lily reading to her baby brother. He really seemed to be enjoying the book! The lovely thing about having older siblings is that there is always someone to entertain you! Love my little people!

Bonus Podling Day

We were much obliged to the teachers for striking on Thursday, thereby giving me a bonus day at home with my Podlings. Lily spent most of the day at a friends house, so that left me at home with Emma and the boys. Tom generally entertains himself and Alex still naps a lot in the daytime, so Emma and I were able to indulge in a little kitchen fun. She has been wanting to make gingerbread men for ages, so we finally got around to that and she had tremendous fun cutting out various shapes and stamping faces on them. We even made some gingerbread biscuits in the shape of some of the characters that Tom has invented, much to his delight!

In the afternoon we made some glittery play dough and Emma had tremendous fun playing with it. We all had a lovely day!

Sports Day 2014

Lining up for her first race

It was Emma's first sports day this year and she was initially very sad about it as she remembered how much fun we had watching Tom and Lily last year and wanted to be with me. Once she was actually there and sat with her friends though she appeared to enjoy it a great deal. Emma is quite tiny compared to her classmates, so she has her work cut out keeping up with them in races, but she certainly gave it her all. I particularly loved her in the 200 metre race when she was third from the back and then kept slowing down to allow her friends to catch up! So sweet!

Lily and Tom had their sports day in the afternoon of the same day that Emma had hers in the morning. Lily gave it her all and was very proud to come second in her skipping race heat. Well done Lily!

Tom, as ever, had no competitive urge, but was simply there to have fun and enjoy himself, which, after all, is what it should all be about. He was most pleased about the fact that Alexander was there to watch him and spent most of his races looking at his baby brother!

Well done Podlings! You all did very well!

Go Lily!

Smiling at Alexander!

Tom is shouting "Hey, Alex!" as he is running past us here!

A Picnic Tea

Lily was at a birthday party on Saturday afternoon, but we didn't want to waste the beautiful day. Mark picked Lily up at five and we then drove to nearby Biddulph Grange Country Park for a picnic tea. We visit this country park often as it is only about a ten minute drive from our home and it is a lovely peaceful spot. The Podlings all enjoyed their time in the woods and even Alexander loved the trees. He was absolutely fascinated by the patterns the leaves made against the sky and couldn't stop staring at them. He even got to join in the picnic as he was due a feed whilst we were enjoying our tea! After our picnic we enjoyed a little walk before heading home to tuck the small folk into bed.

Alexander was mesmerised by the silhouettes of the trees against the bright sky

Little Smiler

Alex gave me his first smile last week at six weeks old. He is smiling a little more frequently now, though he saves his best smiles for inanimate objects. He will smile at people, but his biggest smiles seem to be reserved for the cuckoo clock and the oil paintings in the lounge! He has also started to make the most adorable baby noises and coos at me as if in conversation. He just gets cuter and cuter every day and I adore him!
